How is a days rental calculated?

Our daily rentals run on a 24 hour block. e.g. if your rental period is 1 day, and you collect at 10am on Thursday, your return time will be 10am Friday. If you return earlier than 10am Friday your rental period is still calculated as 1 day, if you return later you will cross over to a new rental day.

How do I pay for a rental car with LCRNZ?

Some of our vehicles are available to ‘book now’ and a 30% deposit is required to confirm your booking.  The remaining is due 7 days before your rental period.  The full amount is due for bookings made within 7 days of your rental period.

Can I receive a quote before I commit to booking?

Yes you can.  This is useful if you would like to share the pricing with a friend or colleague.  This Quote will be valid for 24 hours. If you would like to proceed you can click on the link to turn this Quote into a Booking Request.  We will then review your request. 

What is a booking request?

Some vehicles require our team to check availability before a confirmation.   If the vehicle is available, our team will confirm your booking and use your entered payment details to pay the 30% deposit. 

Do I get unlimited KMs?

Van rentals for 4 days or more, and car rentals for 5 days or more get unlimited kms.  for rental periods less than 4 days (vans) and 5 days (cars) 200km per day are free, and then $0.50 per km is charged for any km over the free allowance. Excluding our Aston Martin Vantage & Maserati GT & Mercedes Benz G63.  Extra km charge is $1 per km.

Do I pay for fuel?

Our rentals are ‘full to full’.  This means we supply the vehicle full, and you return the vehicle full.  If you are unable to return full, there is a $50 refuel charge on top of the refuelling amount.  This will be charged to the supplied card in our secure vault.

Do I pay for insurance?

Full insurance is included in the daily price.  Excess is set to $6500 by default, and you can chose to reduce your excess to $1500 with a daily excess reduction.  This amount depends on your vehicle type and your length of rental period.

What is excess?

Excess is the maximum you would pay in the case of an accident.  If the damage is less than the excess, you would pay less than the excess total.  See Rental Agreement for more details.

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes you can

  • 14+ days – No charge.
  • 14-7 days – 30% deposit charged.
  • Less than 7 days – 100% full amount charged.

Our cancellation policy is also applicable to bookings made within the cancellation policy above

Can I extend my booking?

Yes you can.  Reach out to us and we will check the vehicles availability. 

Are there any hidden costs?

No hidden costs.  Everything is outlined in the agreement.  

Do I need a New Zealand drivers licence?

All International drivers licences are acceptable as long as they are in english.  A Foreign Licence Translation will be requested if the uploaded licence is not in English.

Do I need a heavy goods or different class licence to book a Mercedes Sprinter?

No you do not.  A standard full licence is required.

I am under 21 years of age, can I hire a vehicle?

Our insurance policy states all nominated drivers must be aged 21 years or over at the time of your rental period. Some vehicles require a minimum 25 years or over.

Can I add other named drivers?

Yes you can, and it is FREE to add extra drivers.

Where are you located?

We have teams in Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown all within 10 minutes of the airport.

How do I collect and return the vehicle?

We provide complimentary airport collect and returns all within walking distance to domestic and international terminals.  One of our representatives will make contact with vehicle collection details before your scheduled collection time. 

Can the vehicle be delivered to my residence or accomodation?

Yes it can.  Varying costs depending on location and distance from our Airport depots.

Can I book after hours collect and returns?

Yes you can.  Our standard operating hours are 8am – 6pm.  Vehicle handovers are available between 6am-8am, and 6pm-9pm for an additional $50.

Do I have to pay a bond?

Our team may carry out pre-authorisation checks for security purposes. The pre-authorisation is a temporary hold of the excess quoted upon your booking, this guarantees us that the funds are available to pay for any damages.

When does the pre-authorisation get released?

This varies depending on your individual credit/debit card provider and their processing times. If there have been no damages, the pre-authorisation release will be processed from our team within 24 hours from the end of your rental period.

Do I need to clean my vehicle before returning?

A full car clean and groom is not necessary, however a cleaning charge of $80 can be enforced if the vehicle is left in an unreasonable condition.  Feel free to run the vehicle through a wash bay and empty rubbish if you get the chance.

Do you supply Car seats and Booster seats for my children?

In Queenstown with work with a very experienced child travel safety operator – Tots on Tour, and for $30 we will visit the TOTS team so they can professionally fit the child travel safety system that YOU have booked through them. Firstly, confirm your vehicle booking with us, and then make your booking with TOTS detailing that you have a booking with us. The TOTS team will organise a suitable time with us so the installation is ready in time for your rental period.

Do you supply winter vehicle accessories?

We do for certain vehicles.  Ski Racks, roof boxes, snow chains and snow socks are available. If you do not see an option while booking, please enquire via email. Please note that excess options do not cover any damage caused by the use of winter vehicle accessories.

I received a parking fine and/or speeding infringement. How do I pay the fines?

If you have the physical ticket or fine in your hand you can follow the instructions to pay. If we receive a fine via post we will charge the credit card in our secure vault + a $35 admin fee.

Vehicle collect and return times

When you are confirming your booking details, please be sure on what time you expect to collect your vehicle and return your vehicle.  Further charges will apply if you collect and/or return more than 30 minutes after your confirmed times. If you are running late please notify us as soon as you can to avoid extra charges.
